The mines in Megalo Livadi :
At the picturesque village of Megalo Livadi,
which was inghabited around 1850 mainly to meet the needs
of the miners, you can still see the remains of important
buildings of the past – such as the head quarters of the
mining company and the hospital. In front of the head
quarters building stands the monument in memory of
those who died in the strike of the miners, in 1916, for
better working conditions. You can walk along the old
mines and see the bridge where the loading and the
unloading took place. At the nearby bay of Almiros you
can see, near the sea, the arched rooms with mineral
water springs.
