Megalo Livadi :
With the opening of the mines on the island, the building of tenement settlements starts, with Megalo Livadi being the most important of them.
On the one side of the shore lies
the neoclassic building that used
to house the head quarters of
“Serifos-Spiliasesa” the mine
company.

If you stroll by the shore you can see the old school, the police station, shops and the chemical laboratory, which are all now dilapidated.

In front of the head quarters
building stands the monument in
memory of the bloody strike of
the miners in August 1916.
On the one edge of the bay still
stands the imposing bridge for
loading and unloading of the metals, which adds to the magnificent rocky
scenery, embracing the sea and
forming a safe bay.
